چکیده
Abstract Aim To assess feasibility of a novel remotely-supervised exercise programme at vascular hub during the COVID-19 lockdown. Methods Participants with arterial claudication (ABPI <0.90) who were able to walk 50m enrolled into 3-month by specialist nurse. The initial appointment addressed smoking cessation and best medical therapy. Baseline walking distance, ABPI quality life (QoL) measured using Intermittent Claudication Questionnaire. Following this, up 8 WhatsApp video calls physiotherapist undertaken provide tailored programme. Mapmywalk© App, or pedometer, used monitor distances. instructed record their daily longest email results before each consultation. Results 12 participants enrolled, these 2 unsuitable. Median age was 63 years (20%) female. median 0.7 (IQR 0.5-0.8), baseline absolute distance 75m 50-140) QoL 51/80 15-79). 7 (70%) successfully completed discharged. Their 2000m 200-4000) scores improved 6/80 2-20) (p = 0.02). Remaining 3 required revascularisation for disease progression. Reimbursement tariffs supervised £700 per patient, whereas £2000 - £5000. Conclusion Remotely feasible in 70% participants. Approximately £3000 patient saved from reduction procedures our unit.

Effects of supervised vs non-supervised combined aerobic and resistance exercise programme on cardiometabolic risk factors.
OBJECTIVE We examined the effect of a 6-month combined aerobic and resistance training programme on cardiometabolic risk factors in nondiabetic subjects and compared its effectiveness when executed under strict professional supervision or without direct supervision. METHODS Eighty-five sedentary, non-diabetic subjects (27 men and 58 women), mean age 47.5 +/- 0.6 years, mean body mass index (B...

INTRODUCTION There is a need to establish a framework and exercise level for patients with early rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The aim of this study was to compare the effect of a partly supervised and a self-administered exercise programme for patients with early RA. METHODS A total of 51 patients with early (≤ 5 years) RA were randomised to either a six-week supervised, progressive, high-inten...

Background: Effectiveness of various exercise protocols in weight reduction after bariatric surgery has not been sufficiently explored in the literature. Thus, in the present study, we aimed at comparing the effect of minimally supervised home-based and closely supervised gym-based exercise programs on weight reduction and insulin resistance after bariatric surgery. &n...
